Domain Rating
Domain Rating (DR) is a proprietary metric by Ahrefs that measures the strength of a website's backlink profile on a logarithmic scale from 0 to 100.
DR is calculated based on the quantity and quality of external backlinks pointing to a domain. It is logarithmic — gaining DR from 20 to 30 is much easier than from 70 to 80. Like Domain Authority (Moz), DR is a third-party metric that Google does not use directly.
DR is useful for competitive analysis: comparing your link profile against competitors, qualifying guest posting opportunities, and benchmarking link building progress over time. A new site typically starts at DR 0-5 and reaches DR 20-30 with consistent content and link building.
Do not confuse DR with actual ranking ability. A DR 30 page with excellent content and strong topical authority can outrank a DR 70 page with thin content. Focus on building genuine authority through quality content rather than chasing DR as a vanity metric.
