Hub and Spoke Model

The hub and spoke model is a content architecture pattern where a central hub page (comprehensive overview) links to multiple spoke pages (detailed subtopics), and each spoke links back to the hub.

The hub page covers a broad topic comprehensively and links to spoke pages that dive deep into specific subtopics. Each spoke links back to the hub and optionally to related spokes. This creates a tightly interlinked cluster that signals topical authority to search engines.

Example for Indxel: the hub page is "Technical SEO Guide for Developers." Spoke pages include "Core Web Vitals Optimization," "JavaScript SEO for React Apps," "Robots.txt Configuration," and "Structured Data Implementation." Each spoke targets specific long-tail keywords while the hub targets the broad head term.

The hub and spoke model is essentially the implementation of content clusters. It differs from a silo structure (which is strictly hierarchical with no cross-links between silos) by allowing lateral links between spokes when topically relevant.
