Pillar Page

A pillar page is a comprehensive, long-form piece of content that covers a broad topic at a high level and links to more detailed subtopic pages (cluster content), serving as the central hub of a content cluster.

A pillar page targets a broad, high-volume keyword ("Technical SEO") while cluster pages target specific long-tail variations ("how to optimize robots.txt", "Core Web Vitals for Next.js"). The pillar provides an overview and links to cluster pages for depth.

Effective pillar pages are typically 2,000-5,000 words, cover the topic comprehensively but not exhaustively (that is what cluster pages are for), include a table of contents, and have clear internal links to every cluster page. They should be updated regularly as new cluster content is published.

The Indxel glossary is itself a pillar page — a comprehensive resource on SEO terminology that links to related terms (cluster concept) and establishes topical authority across the entire SEO domain.
