Featured Snippet
A featured snippet is a special search result that displays an extracted answer from a web page at the top of Google's organic results (position zero), before the regular listings.
Featured snippets come in several formats: paragraph (direct answer), list (ordered/unordered steps), table (data comparisons), and video. Google selects them from pages already ranking on page 1 for the query.
To optimize for featured snippets: directly answer the target question in 40-60 words, use clear heading hierarchy (H2/H3 with the question, answer immediately below), use lists and tables for structured information, and ensure the page ranks in the top 10 for the target query.
Featured snippets can significantly increase traffic — or decrease it if the snippet fully answers the query (zero-click searches). Monitor click-through rates in Search Console to assess the impact.
